शिरा / Sheera Recipe / Suji Ka Halwa by madhurasrecipe | Perfect Desi Ghee Suji Halwa
Hello, I am Madhura and welcome to MadhurasRecipe Marathi
Today let's prepare sheera
Sheera can be prepared in many different ways
Like prasadacha sheera, pineapple sheera, mango sheera
Today we will learn the basic recipe of sheera
We have to roast rava on low heat until it turns pink
Heat a pan on medium heat
Add 1/2 cup rava. I have taken fine rava
Use fine rava while preparing sheera
So that the sheera becomes nice and soft. It gets nice texture
I am adding 3 tbsp ghee
Let's mix this well together
I am roasting rava on medium heat until it turns pink and smells nice
Do not use non stick pan or skillet while roasting rava
As rava has course texture non stick pan may get scratches
So avoid using non stick pan while roasting rava
Roast rava on medium heat and keep stirring continuously
Don't go anywhere while roasting the rava
It may get over roasted
As I am doing recipes in marathi I am expected to speak pure marathi
As we use many english words daily we can't remember some marathi words instantly

I have roasted the rava nicely on medium heat
It has turned nice pink
Let's add water. For 1/2 cup rava I have taken 1 1/2 cup water
Water is 3 times the proprotion of rava. It is boiled water
If you add cold water to hot rava sheera becomes sticky
So always use hot water while preparing sheera
Add dry fuits like raisins, cashew nuts, almonds
Let's mix this well together. No lumps of rava should be formed
We will add sugar once rava absorbs all the water
For 1/2 cup rava add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
For preparing cardamom powder I have taken 7-8 green cardamom
Peel them and remove black seeds inside
Put the seeds in a morter and grind into powder
Mix everything well again
Cover and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes
I have cooked the sheera on medium heat for 5 minutes
Let's check. Sugar has melted nicely
You can see, it has got nice texture
Nice. In the end I am adding about 1/2 tsp ghee
This is recipe of sheera. Don't hesitate to use ghee
Addition of ghee gives a nice glaze to sheera
So do add a tsp ghee in the end
Sheera doesn't become dry after it gets cool
Sheera remains nice and soft
Turn off the heat and sheera is already

Ingredients – • 1/2 cup barik Rava / Sooji • 3 1/2 tbsp Ghee • 1 1/2 cup Water • Assorted dry fruits (Almonds, Cashews and raisins) • 1/2 cup Sugar • 1/4 spoon Cardamom powder Method – • Heat a pan on low heat. • Add rava, ghee. Mix well and roast the rava on medium heat until it turns reddish. • Add boiling hot water. Add dry fruits. Mix well. • No lumps of rava should be formed. • Add sugar after rava absorbs all the water. • Add cardamom powder. Stir well. • Cover and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat. • Remove the lid and stir well. • Add ghee. Mix well. • Turn off the heat and sheera is already.
